As I was cleaning out that poor, overburdened inbox I actually read some of those e-mails. Not the shopping ones. I promise - I only glanced at those. I was reading the business success ones and they say to tell the story of yourself and your business. So I will.
First of all, this blog is me telling the story of myself, just in case you didn't know. Everyone's story is a work in progress, so I am not going to rehash the past.
Second of all, my business. The lovely Reverie Rendition. The name was random. What I mean is that I haven't been thinking of a business name all my life. I wasn't five years old when thought of it, or even 10. it doesn't have some sort of powerful, ingenious meaning behind it. It wasn't so important I might die if someone else claimed it (now i would though - its MINE!). Nope, it just described both my art and my process.
Rendition, of course means a translation or interpretation, while reverie means "a state of dreamy meditation or fanciful musing" according to dictionary.com, my best friend. together these words describe my work. I usually start of with a feeling - unfortunately my best work is present when I am angry. I imagine different things, what it would be like, and exotic places, and produce something. I like to leave a lot of questions as well, to entice the viewer to form his or her own interpretation. This is obvious in my tree pictures, especially this one, in which the man has no legs. Have fun interpreting that one!
I like to believe that not everything is set in stone - there are always shades of grey that you, as the viewer, get to decide on.
