College, I can't wait. I can't wait so much I am taking a summer class! Yes. Introduction to Philosophy. I think I like philosophy - I remember reading a little Plato in one of my high school classes and enjoying the interpretation I could make. In both art and writing, I appreciate the pieces that leave room for interpretation the most. Right now I am working on a new piece with a woman and a boat, in a sort of collage style. Anyways, I showed a friend and she asked if the woman was supposed to be on the boat, or in it; I told her it's up to her. Is she sailing away, or towards something? I think when I viewer forms their interpretation, it really depends on their stage of life. Say somebody who is excited for their future is looking at this picture - they might see a woman on a boat, sailing towards something, maybe sailing home or maybe sailing towards adventure. Or, perhaps we have a viewer who is feeling trapped and cornered, lonely, maybe confused. They might see someone being left behind while the ship sails away. Either way, I try to leave that room for interpretation in my works.(It's really hard to see, but in her sunglasses, there is a reflection painted of the water and the beach in front of her.)
I also set up my fall class schedule, and remember, I am trying to juggle this with two jobs, but I think i set it up nicely to allow for that. Monday, Technical writing from 6:30 to 9:30. This leaves me all day to work Monday. Tuesday and Thursday, here are my busy days, 1:00 to 2:15 Intermediate Algebra. This shouldn't be too hard, since I took pre-calc last year. Next, from 2:30 to 3:45, Introduction to business, and lastly, from 7:00 to 9:45, beginning drawing. This completes my fall schedule, leaving my Wednesdays and Fridays open for work and study.
Oh wait, I don't think I even told you all the main goal yet, did I? An associate of Arts; a nice solid education with a lot of elective courses that I can fill with business and art classes, to put me closer to my goal of owning a studio.
I love and am inspired by your clearly set plans, realistic and gainful goals and especially by your artwork. Your writing style also has a lovely flow and is thoughtful. I see a woman, looking toward her future that includes adventures and well controlled direction in beautiful, natural settings....hmmm with a dash of sophisticated, type A, in-control flair.
